To Dream the Possible Dream

Little girls can grow up to work for NASA. They cannot grow up to be mermaids.

C'mon Target! Get with it!

We copied another civilly disobedient shopper and moved a few NASA logo-ed items from the boys to the girls clothing section in hopes of being not provocative, but just a bit thought provoking. They are surely already put back where they came from and will not cause a stir, but one woman's similar action certainly did.

Perhaps Target and other retailers will now be getting a clue.

Go girls!

And while we are at it, how about some changes in the boys section too?

Mary's Chickens

So, you think you were cooped up over the winter?

Just imagine how these girls have  been feeling.

Fortunately they haven't let their situation keep them from being productive.

Lovely!

Looks like Mary will be all ready for an Easter Egg hunt without the help of a Paas kit this year.

Henrietta here is guarding two pretty, cappuccino-colored eggs under her ample breast.

Even though it is apparent that Charlie has built a hen house using the blueprints from Fort Knox, one can't be too careful with naughty raccoons, the West Hill fox, and  intrusive bloggers,on the prowl.

We hear that hens lay better if their home is quaintly accessorized.

Of course Mary would do that for them even if it weren't true. She's just thoughtful like that.

Keep up the good work ladies.

Our invitation to an omelette brunch depends on you!

Ruffles and Rickrack

We did some sewing for a girl!

It was pretty fun.

March 12, 1912

That's when it all started. Thanks to founder Juliette Gordon Low the Girl Scouts are celebrating their 99th anniversary this week.

Local commemorations include: A very colorful display at our very own public library designed and executed by our very own most dedicated life-long Girl Scout booster.

And a birthday party of sorts. The Chippewa Valley 99th Anniversary Alumnae Event. If you were ever a girl scout you are invited to attend as a special guest.

The festivities continue in April with the 17th Annual Women of Courage, Confidence & Character awards.

And then of course there are the (don't mess with my) cookies being delivered right now during Girl Scout Week 2011. If you didn't place an advance order keep your eyes open for the girls-in-green manning pop-up sales tables at various places around town for the next few weeks.

Or you could travel to Savannah, Georgia where, thanks to the clearing up of a little misunderstanding you can once again buy your Thin Mints and Samoas right at the doorstep of Juliette Gordon Low her ownself.
