And the Answer is...

189 trick or treaters and 9 bags of candy.

Every year we try to count then lose focus. This year the less distractable one of us got the job done. Good costumes. Great weather. Lots of fun.

Yes, it was scary for awhile when we thought we might run out of candy. It was even scarier to think we might not have any candy leftover - for the first time in nearly a quarter century we have no kids' bags to raid or any possibility of scoring cast-off coconut-filled chocolate bars. A frightening new era just snuck right up on us!

I should have alerted you to the fact we had a 100# bag (well, maybe not that large, but it seemed so) of Dum Dums in reserve. "Reserve candy" is the stuff we gladly forgo and send to the office candy dish on Nov. 1. P.S. Glad you kept count. I usually guesstimate the number to be well over 200.

Those numbers are just something we don't see out here. We were Tricked by about 15 total. Hmmmm....leftover candy....well, we have lots.

Twenty six precisely for me. The first twenty were little kids in cute costumes. Only the last six were teens. I usually get more of the latter. This one was more fun. Many princesses and fairies and one tiny pirate in complete detailed costume. Now where to hide my reserves from myself....???

Yes, those "end of" things do sneak up on you! I was sad when I realized that I didn't remember the last time I held a little hand walking into the mall. Or the last bath. Or the last bedtime story. Sniff, sniff.

I had 17 (two of them were my own). More than I was expecting on my dead-end lane!
